The Wolfsonian Private Event
Miami, FL – November 21, 2013 – On Thursday, November 21, The Wolfsonian-FIU held a private event to preview its new exhibitions, Birth of Rome and Rendering War: The Murals of A.G. Santagata, which opened to the public on Friday, November 22. The event was organized under the auspices of the Italian Consulate General in Miami with the support of the Italian Cultural Institute and Poltrona Frau, celebrating The Year of Italian Culture in America. The evening began with a tour of the two new exhibitions and a third, Echoes and Origins, on view since September 27, which together comprise Rebirth of Rome, a series examining art, architecture and design in interwar Italy. Following a tour of the exhibitions led by Wolfsonian curator Silvia Barisione, she joined Wolfsonian founder Mitchell Wolfson, Jr., in a spirited conversation on the history of many of the pieces and the curation of the shows. The conversation was followed by a cocktail reception sponsored by Frescobaldi and Perrier Sparkling Natural Mineral Water.
