Miami, FL – October 26, 2013 – It was an evening of smoke and mirrors—literally, as the Florida Grand Opera hosted a black-tie celebration dubbed Smoke & Mirrors. Celebrating the lifetime achievements of interactional opera star Deborah Voigt and chaired by Gloria Portal and Isa Leibowitz, the lavish affair took place at the Alfred I. DuPont Building, where guests savored a four-course meal and took in a performance by members of the FGO’s Young Artist Program. Drinking and dancing ensued before Voigt accept abed her lifetime artistic accomplishments award. It was an evening of mystery, magic and music, paying homage to the world-renowned American soprano who has performed across America and abroad doing Wagner and Strauss, as well as singing the role of multiple Italian heroines. Afterward, guests flocked to Crash the Bash, the first official after party of the gala, which was lead by Crescendo Circle and kept singing well into the wee hours of the night.
