Miami Beach, FL – October 10, 2013 – Thank god it’s the weekend. You made it all the way here from Monday. Now it’s time to celebrate. It’s a culturally rich and music-heavy weekend in Miami, with Bardot celebrating four years strong with The Knocks on the carpet, Afrojack at STORY, Rusko at The Fillmore, the debut of a blogger’s fashion line and an exhibit to the original dreadlock rasta.

Save the date for Thursday, October 10 at 10 p.m. when The Knocks head to Bardot to celebrate the Midtown nightspot’s fourth anniversary. The electronic music duo, which is named for its early days when the neighbors would knock on the door and complain about the music being too loud, is making the journey to our little live bar all the way from The Big Apple. Expect to hear “Make it Better” and “Dancing With the DJ” live from the carpet.

Rusko at The Fillmore

A DJ with a degree from Leeds College of Music? Sure, why not? The English DJ heads to The Fillmore on Thursday, October 10 for an evening of dubstep goodness, like “Cockney Thug,” “Lift Me Up EP” and “Somebody to Love.” And we really do love any DJ who offers to put out music for free, especially when he’s feuding with his former record label.

Drawing Room at the Freehand

On Friday, head to The Freehand for The Drawing Room. Now in its fourth edition, the monthly event series pairs a local artist with a master cocktail craftsman. This go-round it’s artist Evoca1, a Dominican Republic self-taught painter, street artist and designer who kills it in oils, acrylics, spray paint. Take in the art as you sip libations from The Shaker’s Randy Perez, who will be mixing up drinks that will leave you begging for the recipe. Drinks inspired by Evoca1’s colorful palate, nonetheless. Feel free to also play a round of drunk Jenga or two.

Afrojack at STORY

On Friday, the Dutch music machine that is Afrojack heads to STORY to light up the decks with tracks like “Take Over Control,” which landed him on charts in 10 different countries. A night for international bliss? You bet. You can also lay money down on hearing “Give Me Everything” and “Run the World (Girls),” both of which he contributed to. No wonder he was number 9 on DJ Mag’s Top 10 of 2012.

Bob Marley Messenger Exhibition at HistoryMiami

What does a Bob Marley exhibit do before it heads home to Jamaica forever? It makes a stop in Miami for its last hurrah. On Friday, October 11, the Bob Marley Messenger Exhibition lands in Miami for the last time before heading back to its homeland. On display until January 5, the opening night event will feature local reggae band Jahfe, followed by a family festival on Saturday, October 12 at HistoryMiami. The must-see exhibit was curated by the GRAMMY museum at L.A. LIVE and features a look into the musical legend’s life. See his famous Les Paul guitar, pics of Marley on stage and off, ticket stubs, posters, tour books and fan memorabilia, as well as taking part in a drumming station that teaches you how to get your own reggae beat going. Check it out at 101 W. Flagler St., in Miami.
