WRE Weekend Guide
If you’re like the rest of Miami, you probably don’t know what you’re doing yet this weekend. Lucky for you, it’s Friday and we’ve got your line-up of what to do right here with our brand spankin’ new weekend guide. On every Friday, World Red Eye will be bringing you a specially selected list of the hottest things going on for the weekend. Some of them are things we’ll also be at, covering all the action, and some of them we won’t be at but still think they’re going to be awesome. There’s so much constantly going on in Miami- in every area from DJs and musical acts to the arts and dining scene. There’s no reason to ever be sitting at home with nothing to do when we’ve got the great city of Miami as our backyard! We’re taking all the work out of it for you, and simplifying it down to this very essential list of things you need to check out. Maybe you can’t make all of them, but at least you know what’s going on and can pick one or two.

From star-studded events to restaurant tastings and movie screenings to bottle popping and a mini music festival, this can only be a glorious weekend if you play your cards right. Pain & Gain Cast Party at LIV
Tonight at LIV is not to be missed. The cast and crew of Pain & Gain are hosting tonight with DJ Irie spinning. They’re all in town from yesterday’s big Miami premiere of the film, so you can count on seeing big time actors like Dwayne Johnson, Mark Wahlberg, and director Michael Bay tonight. Good luck trying to get in because if you can, it’s sure to be a night for the books.

The Great Taste of the Grove
Tomorrow the entire afternoon is filled with food and drink in Coconut Grove’s Peacock Park. If you haven’t been to The Great Taste of the Grove before, make sure to stop by this year. There’s food from over 20 local Grove restaurants like Timo’s at the Villa Mayfair, eight live concerts, and plenty of kid-friendly stuff for the little ones while you’re noshing and boozing at the park.
Eyes Wide Shut Screening at O Cinema
Wynwood’s artsy O Cinema has been honoring American filmmaker Stanley Kubrick all week with Kubrick Week at O Cinema. Saturday at 1pm ends the week with a screening of Kubrick’s last film Eyes Wide Shut starring Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman. It’s a great way to see the movie again, or for the first time, in an intimate setting full of film lovers.
Saturdays at SL Miami
After the eating and drinking and movie-going, you’ll want to head to SL Miami on Saturday night for a club that’s not a huge mega-club, but more of an intimate VIP spot. Since it’s small, it gets packed quickly so take the hassle out of it by getting a table ahead of time. With this Gilt City deal, you can get a discounted table with a bottle for you and three of your friends. Perfect.
Tortuga Music Festival
If you couldn’t make it to Coachella this weekend, don’t be sad because Fort Lauderdale is just a short drive away. This weekend they’ve got the Tortuga Music Festival going on Saturday and Sunday with tons of great bands like The Avett Brothers, Kenny Chesney, and Grace Potter. Go one or both days, because either way, you’re getting a heavy dose of music without the hassle of a huge far away festival.
