Charles St. Soft Opening
Miami Beach, FL – March 9, 2013 – Fresh to the South Beach dining scene, Charles St. is the new kid on the block at 20th and Collins Avenue. Sitting on the ground floor of the Boulan South Beach hotel, this modern bistro is now open from 7a.m to 5a.m. every day- perfect for South Beach’s late night dining crowd. Charles St. is the first collaboration between Maso Hospitality Group and New York-based real estate company, THINK Properties. Maso’s founder and Miami native Ken Ray has teamed up with THINK’s Shawn Vardi, Hunter Gellin, and Mark Shemel, and they have plans to continue their collaborative projects in South Florida after Charles St. gets off the ground. Take a look inside this cozy eatery as we peruse the dining room, kitchen, and of course, the food at their soft opening from last Saturday night.
The interior was designed by Casa Conde & Associates with a New York state of mind as the inspiration. It combines timeless style with modern elements like Carrera marble tabletops and an open kitchen for a comfortable feel.
The dining room seats 70- not too big and not too small- with a full bar and a communal table extending from the bar itself.
Think of it as a ‘go-to’ neighborhood spot that’s high quality, yet affordable. They serve breakfast, lunch, dinner, and late-night service seven days a week, with plans for weekend brunch to come. For drinks, they’ve got hand-selected boutique wines, emphasizing those from the U.S., and classic crafted cocktails with a modern twist.
There’s a daily grilled flatbread on both the lunch and dinner menus, along with small plates, salads, sandwiches, burgers, and main plates rounding out the menus. And if you have the late night munchies, their late night menu has nine sliders with interesting toppings to choose from.
The dinner menu has a meatball sampler of beef, veal, and pork that comes with potato puree, tallegio foam, shallots, and oregano.
If raw tuna is your thing, be sure to order the small plate off the dinner menu. It comes with truffle, avocado, ginger, and cilantro.
Chef Wolfgang Birk
At the head of the kitchen is Chef Wolfgang Birk, who’s the Culinary Director at Maso Hospitality Group. He’s created the menu focused on internationally-inpired foods, but makes it still approachable for both locals and Miami Beach visitors.
