10 Cane Rum Surf’s Up Mixology Contest

Miami Beach, FL – February 25, 2013 – Ten of South Florida’s finest cocktail slingers went glass to glass at the Surf’s Up Mixology Contest on the sands at Nikki Beach. The challenge was to see who could come up with the freshest 10 Cane Rum cocktail for 2013. An audience of over 100 people watched and cheered on the mixologists while enjoying drinks, live music, and a surfing photo booth with a raffle to benefit The Surfrider Foundation’s Miami Chapter. After lots of concoctions were sampled, the first place prize of a 10-foot paddle board went fittingly to John Lermayer, who’s now at The Regent Cocktail Club, for his modern spin on a daiquiri, dubbed ‘The Perfect 10!’ Judges Aaron Birnbaum, the 10 Cane National Ambassador, Trisha Cancilla, 10 Cane’s Regional Marketing Manager, and Miami.com editor Fred Gonzalez awarded second and third place prizes to Jake Bereson of Hyde Beach at SLS for his Pirate’s Punch and Egor Polonskiy of the James Royal Palm for his Pistachio Mustachio.
