Miami, FL – December 7, 2024 – City commissioners are set to vote on December 12 to finalize funding for the 33-acre recreational space planned beneath Downtown Miami’s Signature Bridge.

The ambitious project, featuring an amphitheater, event lawn, community plaza, children’s play area, and more, will be designed and constructed by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT). Total funding for the project is expected to reach $82.7 million, with contributions of $10.8 million from the city, $11.5 million from the state, and $60.4 million from a record-breaking federal grant.

If approved, the agreement would authorize the city manager to negotiate terms for Miami’s share of the funding. The project’s completion aligns with the timeline for the Signature Bridge itself, slated to finish in late 2027, promising a vibrant new public space in the heart of the city.
