Miami, FL – September 24, 2024 – Brightline is expanding its fleet to meet surging demand, with new train cars en route to nearly double its passenger capacity.
Siemens has shipped the first batch of new train cars to Brightline, which will soon be put into service with the aim to relieve the capacity strain Brightline has faced, particularly on routes between West Palm Beach and Miami where up to 30% of trains in 2024 have run at full capacity.
As part of a larger expansion plan, Brightline will initially operate five-car trainsets, with more cars arriving soon. The company plans to add 20 smart-class cars in the coming months and 10 premium-class cars in 2025.
With these upgrades, Brightline anticipates a significant increase in passenger numbers, expecting to reach 400,000 monthly riders in the near term, and 650,000 by 2026, up from 208,062 in August 2024.
