Coral Gables, FL – September 11, 2024 – A major redevelopment could transform Miami’s seemingly forgotten Sunset Place into a vibrant mixed-use hub.

The plan, set for review by South Miami’s Planning Board, includes 1,513 residential units, a hotel, restaurants, bars, and a 1,300-seat theater. The 1.47 million-square-foot project would revamp the mostly vacant 10.1-acre site, featuring nine towers, offices, retail space, and extensive landscaping inspired by nearby Coral Gables. The proposal aims to breathe new life into the mall, which has struggled since its opening in 1999, and create a dynamic destination for the community.

If approved, the development promises to invigorate the area by attracting new businesses and residents, with a mix of amenities such as rooftop pools, diverse housing options, and pedestrian-friendly streetscapes. The ambitious project seeks to reshape Sunset Place into a thriving center for living, working, and entertainment.
