Miami, FL – September 6, 2024 – Inter Miami’s long-awaited new stadium will open in 2026 — a year later than originally planned.
The team, which had aimed for a 2025 opening of the “Freedom Park” near Miami International Airport, did not disclose the reason for the delay. The stadium has faced numerous setbacks, including legal challenges and logistical issues, since its announcement.
Despite the delays, the ownership group, including David Beckham, remains optimistic about the stadium’s impact on the Miami community.
Inter Miami has been playing in Fort Lauderdale since joining Major League Soccer in 2020, with the future of star player Leo Messi in the new stadium still uncertain as his current contract runs through 2025, with an option for 2026.
