WRE News: Sternlicht Taps Bjark Ingles for Standard Hotel Miami Beach Condo Project

Miami, FL – August 30, 2024 – Billionaire Barry Sternlicht is set to transform Miami Beach’s historic The Standard Miami Hotel with a condo addition designed by renowned architect Bjarke Ingels.

The $61 million redevelopment plan will revamp the boutique waterfront property on Belle Isle, preserving the hotel’s iconic south wing while converting its east wing into a five-story building featuring hotel rooms, a parking garage, and six luxury condos.

The west wing will be reconfigured with larger hotel rooms, keeping the overall room count stable. Miami’s Design Review Board will consider the proposal on October 1st.

Sternlicht, who acquired the property in 2022, is leading the project through his real estate firm, with a notable team of investors including Ingels and tech billionaire Peter Thiel.
