Miami, FL – August 6, 2024 – Pitbull has teamed up with Florida International University for the first-ever naming rights deal between a musician and a football stadium.
FIU has secured a groundbreaking five-year, $6 million agreement with Pitbull to name its football venue “Pitbull Stadium.” The unique partnership, which underscores Pitbull’s deep ties to Miami, includes a $1.2 million annual payment, with an option to renew for another five years. The deal also entails Pitbull creating an anthem for FIU athletics, promoting the university on social media, and making appearances at fundraising events. In return, he gains fee-free use of the stadium for 10 days per year and several other exclusive perks.
The collaboration is part of FIU’s ongoing efforts to boost its football program’s profile. Despite challenges since joining the FBS in 2005, the Golden Panthers are seeking innovative ways to generate excitement. Last season, FIU garnered attention with their “Miami Vice” inspired uniforms. With Pitbull’s involvement, FIU aims to enhance its appeal and strengthen its presence in the competitive sports market.
The inaugural game at “Pitbull Stadium” is set for September 7 against Central Michigan.
