Miami, FL – February 6, 2024 – Emily Caillon Chene, Andrea Saty, Shahrzad Daneshvar, along with 2 Million Children, hosted an event at the Fisher Island Mansion. This engaging session on digital safety featured local Miami federal prosecutors Brooke Latta, Jessica Obenauf and Lacee Monk, who generously shared their insights and expertise on navigating online spaces securely. 2 Million Children emerged from a gathering of South Florida parents with young elementary school children. They came together to devise a strategy on how to protect their kids from online grooming, sexual abuse and trafficking. Shockingly, approximately 2 million children are sexually trafficked globally each year, with over 50,000 children in the U.S. alone. Miami ranks among the top 5 cities for child trafficking. The primary goal of 2 Million Children is to combat child sex trafficking by addressing its root cause: the demand for child exploitation. The United States is the leading consumer of child sex abuse material. To put an end to this, our initiatives focus on two critical fronts:
1. Disseminating comprehensive education to both parents and children, empowering them with the knowledge and skills needed to safeguard themselves against potential predators and traffickers.
2. Advocating for strategies and regulations aimed at reducing the demand for child exploitation.
Currently, the organization is concentrating their efforts in Miami-Dade County and plans to launch a nationwide awareness campaign in collaboration with other anti-trafficking organizations. The organization is currently partnering with Overtown Youth Center, More Too Life, Kind I am and Bright Network.
