Miami, FL – November 13, 2023 – Celebrating its 40th edition, Miami book fair stands as a literary haven, uniting local and global authors, readers, and a diverse community in a vibrant celebration of the written word. From Nov. 12 to 19 at the MDcollege Wolfson Campus, the fair unfolds with a rich tapestry of events, spanning music, food, and yearlong programming in English, Spanish, and Haitian Creole. The festival kicks off with high-profile memoir presentations, featuring Kerry Washington, Jada pinkett smith, and Joan Baez, culminating with the Street Fair from Nov. 17 to 19, offering a vibrant mix of vendors, music, art installations, and Children’s Alley. Since its humble beginnings in 1984, the Miami Book Fair has blossomed into the nation’s largest and longest-running literary festival. The event has evolved from a two-day affair into a sprawling cultural phenomenon, drawing in over 400 authors and thousands of attendees. Mitchell Kaplan, founder of Books & Books, recalls the fair’s inception as a response to challenges faced by Miami’s literary community in the ’80s. From those early days, the fair has grown to host renowned figures like Salman Rushdie, Trevor Noah, James Baldwin, and Toni Morrison.
