The Bangkok-born Vongerichten, whose impressive career includes stints at the Mandarin Oriental in Hong Kong and El Bulli in Barcelona, has often been singled out by diners and critics alike for his globally-minded cuisine – so winningly realized at Wayan, the chef’s excellent French-Indonesian restaurant in New York City. For this intimate event, Vongerichten joined forces with Cole, a James Beard Award winner whose unique approach – meticulous and playful, by turns – is at the center of Uchi, the splendid Austin restaurant he opened in 2003 to universal acclaim.
