Miami, FL – November 19, 2022 – Locust Projects welcomed more than 300 members of Miami’s arts community to a preview of its new home in Little River. Among the guests were Locust Projects Board members, donors, collectors, and numerous Miami-based artists, including artists who’ve had shows at the 24-year-old nonprofit alternative art space or received WaveMaker incubator grants. The 8,000 square foot warehouse space was bathed in prismatic light as a massive holographic house hovered at the entrance. Guests sipping cocktails by Bacardi and staying hydrated by Liquid Death were greeted by the evening’s guest hostess, Queef Latina, as they shopped a housewarming gift ‘Wish List Wall’ of fixtures and furnishings to buy in support of the organization’s move in 2023. Outside, guests gathered to enjoy perfect Miami weather in the open air Courtyard where they dined on deliciously artful ArtPie’s, hearty plates of Shorty’s BBQ and Mediterranean fare from Mr. Mandolin washed down with brews by Unseen Creatures. Haute Tension, recipients of Miami New Times’ “Best Local Album” in 2019, played an hour-long set while Dj Esta spun tunes to groove to, wrapping up the celebratory night that marked the beginning of a new era for Locust Projects.
