Donate Face Masks By #WRECares by World Red Eye Benefitting Little Lighthouse Foundation

1 Mask 1 World
Make Masks • Donate Masks • Save Lives

For every $3 you give we will donate 1 mask to our Health Heroes! Our goal is to donate 100,000 masks!

Your contribution to the 1 Mask 1 World initiative is used to pay #WRECares’ network of local seamstresses and cover the costs of the materials used to make the masks.

About #WRECares
In response to COVID-19, World Red Eye launched #WRECares on March 23, 2020. World Red Eye has transitioned its website WorldRedEye.com into an informative hub for the Miami community to share updates and resources on how we can rise above COVID-19 and help restore the prestige of this great city.

In support of the seamstresses in our community who have been furloughed as a direct effect of the pandemic. #WRECares has assembled a network of 20+ seamstresses and designers who have pivoted their businesses to become mask makers. As a result, they can now support their families while making and donating face masks to those in need. All of the masks donated are made in Miami, for Miami.

The team at #WRECares is distributing the masks to people who need them most (local hospitals, police and fire departments, foster care facilities, eldery homes, etc).

Made in Miami

A Message from the CDC:
“HCP (Health Care Personnel) use of homemade masks:
In settings where facemasks are not available, HCP might use homemade masks (e.g., bandana, scarf) for care of patients with COVID-19 as a last resort. However, homemade masks are not considered PPE, since their capability to protect HCP is unknown. Caution should be exercised when considering this option. Homemade masks should ideally be used in combination with a face shield that covers the entire front (that extends to the chin or below) and sides of the face.”

WRE: Tell us more about how someone can get involved in this partnership?

JB: Absolutely anyone can create a fundraising page to help us spread the word and get as many masks as possible to those in need! On our fundraising page, give.classy.org/WRECaresLLF, simply click “Become a Fundraiser” and you can create a team or an individual fundraising page. Companies, organizations or groups of any kind can create their own teams and individuals can create their own pages to share with family and friends. The pages are customizable so each fundraiser or team can write why they decided to support the cause, write updates and even thank their donors. With this online platform, we can reach supporters all over the world and make a bigger impact!

WRE: How can we donate?

JB: You can donate and create a fundraising page at give.classy.org/WRECaresLLF.
