LYFE Brand Owners: Michael Guerrero, Alexander Tamargo, & Bobby Metelus

WRE: How did you get connected with #WRECares?

Alexander Tamargo: Seth and I go way back in the photography industry. I’ve known him for almost 20 years already and I’ve followed his work throughout. I first saw the initiative on his social media platforms and immediately reached out offering to help. This community has given people like Seth and myself so much that it’s only fitting that we do our part to return the love and support. I was all in on helping out in any way possible.

WRE: How is your company, LYFE Brand,  helping to fight COVID-19?

AT: Once I saw on World Red Eye’s Instagram that there were groups of local seamstresses ready to turn t-shirts into masks I knew this was our chance to support this cause. To date, LYFE Brand has been able to donate over 200 t-shirts that local seamstresses are able to turn into masks. One shirt can produce 30-40 masks for those on the front lines who need them most.

WRE: Why did you want to get involved?

AT: We wanted to get involved for one reason and one reason only – to help. Simple as that. We had been looking for ways to help fight the pandemic and as we kept throwing ideas around this opportunity landed right on our lap and I immediately reached out to Seth.

WRE: What was the inspiration behind the design of the #WRECares x LYFE Brand t-shirt?

AT: We wanted to make a simple shirt with a very clear message. A message that will undoubtedly help save lives. The inspiration came from the old school D.A.R.E. shirts of the 1980’s. D.A.R.E. was an initiative to help keep drugs off the streets so we felt that was a very similar message we wanted to share with staying home to keep COVID-19 off the streets. We feel the design makes the shirt both meaningful and trendy and we hope it will help generate even more help to combat the shortage of masks.

We wanted to get involved for one reason and one reason only – to help. Simple as that.
