Faena Rose Hosts “The World in 2020” with The Economist’s Daniel Franklin
Miami Beach, FL – January 3, 2020 -The Executive Editor of The Economist and Editor of The World in 2020, Daniel Franklin, joined Faena Rose members for an insightful conversation that forecasted global themes for the year ahead. Daniel shared his predictions on headlining topics such as rumors of an American recession, China’s efforts to eliminate poverty in rural areas, and the addition of skateboarding as a competitive event in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
Daniel donned 2020 the “year of streaming” as consumers will have an abundance of content with streaming services like Disney+ and Apple TV+ entering the arena. He also noted video gaming would experience great advances in the next decade as faster internet speeds become available to more consumers.
Lastly, Daniel donned the 2020’s as the decade of the “yolde” or the young/old. The yolde consist of baby boomers, a large population of 65-75 year old Americans, who are fitter, richer, and more active than any other generation in the history of the United States. “Never underestimate the power of the American consumer,” said Daniel. He foresees the yolde greatly disrupting the travel and experience markets. After the conversation members enjoyed a private dinner with Daniel at Francis Mallmann’s Los Fuegos restaurant.
