GSD Alumni Architecture Tour of Miami Design District
Miami, FL – December 6, 2019 – In conjunction with Art Basel in Miami Beach and Design Miami/ 2019, Harvard Graduate School of Design alumni were invited on an inspiring tour of curated projects, which include interventions by GSD alumni Sharon Johnston MArch ’95, Mark Lee MArch ’95, Lisa Iwamoto MArch ’93, and Daniel Toole MAUD ’16. Other projects include Keenan/Riley’s Museum Garage, Sou Fujimoto’s “crystallized showers of sunlight” for the Palm Court facade, Frei Otto’s saddle shaped tent structure, and many others. The tour began in the District’s Palm Court, next to the Buckminster Fuller Fly’s Eye Dome, and concluded at Dacra’s offices for a gathering amidst Craig Robins’ art and design collection. The tour was led by Florida International University’s David Rifkind, associate professor of architecture and interim chair of landscape architecture and environmental and urban design, and was organized by Alumni Council member Jaya Kader MArch ’88 and co-sponsored by Miami Design District.
