Micky Wolfson’s 80th Birthday at Private Residence
Miami Beach, FL – December 2, 2019 – In the carousel of elite Miami Art Week parties, one event on Star Island stood out. Movers and shakers from around the world gathered at a private home of art collectors to raise a glass to provocateur Mitchell “Micky” Wolfson, Jr. While indulging in Micky’s favorite fare and over-the-top entertainment from acclaimed singer Maryel Epps and DJ Hotpants, the invite-only crowd rubbed shoulders with VIP attendees like Emilio Estefan, Michele Oka Doner, Martin Margulies, Herbert Wertheim, and Jayne and Leonard Abess—a true who’s-who of Miami.
The 300+ guests came bearing souvenirs of friendship and talismans of Micky memories, adding them to a wall of “keys” that nodded to the museum founder’s infamous childhood first foray into collecting—playfully pocketing hotel room keys while on family trips. The evening raised funds in support of Wolfson’s namesake museum on Miami Beach, The Wolfsonian–FIU.
