Miami, FL – February 4, 2025 – Miami is finally taking real steps to restore its iconic Marine Stadium after years of delays.
The city has issued a request for proposals to find a private operator to manage the historic venue on Virginia Key, aiming to reopen it as a world-class concert and performance space.
The operator would help plan renovations, book events, and ensure the stadium remains financially sustainable. The city will handle the costly restoration, but funding details remain uncertain, with previous bond approvals falling through.
Officials hope that a finalized renovation plan will solidify funding sources, potentially through new bonds, preservation tax credits, and local taxes. With a fast-tracked timeline, bidders will tour the site this month, proposals are due in April, and a winner could be chosen by May.
If voters approve the selected operator in November, the stadium’s revival would move forward, positioning it as a premier entertainment venue similar to Denver’s Red Rocks Amphitheater.
