Miami, FL – January 3, 2025 – After 15 years of redefining Miami’s dining scene, Sugarcane, the Midtown hotspot that set culinary trends, is closing its doors.
Since opening in 2010, Sugarcane Raw Bar & Grill has been a pioneer, introducing local diners to bacon-wrapped dates, beet mojitos, and a vibrant outdoor garden that became a favorite for celebrations of all kinds. Helmed by chef Timon Balloo, the restaurant popularized small plates like crispy pig ears and Brussels sprouts, blending bold flavors with a buzzing atmosphere. Sugarcane’s innovative spirit helped define Midtown’s dining culture, paving the way for other restaurants in the area. Co-founded by Shimon Bokova, the restaurant set a standard with its raw bar, brunch offerings, and ever-popular happy hour, leaving an indelible mark on Miami’s food scene. Announcing its closure on social media, the team thanked patrons for their loyalty, marking Jan. 31 as its final day. While the Miami location bids farewell, its Las Vegas outpost will remain open.
