Miami, FL – December 27, 2024 – A landmark Miami luxury hotel is closing its doors after more than two decades, making way for a bold new development.
The Mandarin Oriental, Miami on Brickell Key will shut down on May 31, 2025, to be demolished and replaced by two sleek towers featuring a revamped hotel and luxury residences, set to debut in 2030. Known for hosting celebrities like Will Smith and Chrissy Teigen and home to iconic restaurants like La Mar by Gastón Acurio, the Mandarin Oriental has been a staple of Miami’s luxury scene since 2000.
The new south and north towers will include 294 high-end residences, a redesigned Mandarin Oriental hotel with 121 guest rooms, 34 suites, 28 hotel residences, a spa, and multiple restaurants. Partnering with developer Swire Properties, the project reflects Miami’s shift toward hybrid models blending hospitality and long-term living.
While the transformation promises a modernized vibe, it follows a broader trend in Miami’s skyline, echoing recent demolitions and reconstructions of iconic hotels such as the Deauville and Dupont Plaza. The Mandarin Oriental’s storied legacy will live on, but in an entirely new form.
