Miami, FL – December 23, 2024 – Florida added 467,347 residents between 2023 and 2024, reaching an estimated population of 23,372,215, according to new Census Bureau data.

This 2% growth rate was the second highest in the nation, behind only the District of Columbia. The surge was driven primarily by international migration, with Florida gaining over 411,000 residents through this channel, and domestic migration adding another 411,004 people to the broader Southern region.

Despite the overall increase, Florida experienced a “natural decrease” of 7,321, with deaths outpacing births—a trend projected to continue in coming years. Still, Florida remains the third most populous state, trailing only California and Texas, as it continues to attract newcomers from across the globe and within the U.S.
