Miami, FL – December 14, 2024 – Three developer partnerships have been shortlisted for an ambitious project spanning 27 acres of county-owned property in the downtown government center.
The redevelopment plans aim to create a vibrant, 24-hour community featuring cultural landmarks, thousands of residential units, and critical infrastructure.
The shortlisted teams include collaborations between TERRA, Atlantic Pacific Companies, and Sterling Bay; Related Urban, 13th Floor Investments, and Merrimac Ventures; and Florida Value Partners, Cornerstone Group, and John Buck Company.
The winning bidder will be tasked with constructing a new Downtown Miami Transit Terminal, rebuilding the Miami-Dade Main Library and HistoryMiami Museum, and adding a K-12 school, daycare, and 2.5 acres of open space. The project also promises at least 2,000 affordable and workforce housing units, though it will involve demolishing the iconic Philip Johnson-designed Miami-Dade Cultural Center.
In total, the development could encompass up to 23.7 million square feet.
