Miami, FL – December 4, 2024 – During Art Basel Miami Beach, women-led strategy firm LEBEC hosted Women Leading Climate Action, a panel at The Wolfsonian-FIU that spotlighted the role of women in driving equity-focused climate solutions. Moderated by Alix Lebec, founder of LEBEC, the panel featured women leaders in the climate conversation, including Yoca Arditi-Rocha of The CLEO Institute, Thais Lopez Vogel of VoLo Foundation, Stacey Boyd of Olivela, and Estefania Rebellon of Yes We Can World Foundation.
The discussion emphasized the need for bold financial strategies to address climate change’s disproportionate impact on women and marginalized communities. Arditi-Rocha highlighted the importance of cultivating diverse climate leadership, stating, “At CLEO, we’re addressing climate action from the bottom up, cultivating the next generation of diverse climate leaders, and the top down, helping local governments bring over $500 million dollars in federal funds for climate solutions,” said Arditi-Rocha.
Panelists explored themes of empowering diverse leadership, catalytic investments in climate innovation, and the intersection of climate and social equity. Following the panel, attendees mingled within the curated halls of The Wolfsonian-FIU, leaving inspired by a call for collaboration and urgency to tackle the climate crisis.
“Women hold the solutions,” said Lebec. “They are on the frontlines, they are creating change and they are building a better future. The time to act is now, and together, we can turn the tide on the climate crisis.”
Attendees included Randi & Lindsey Wolfson, Lynn & Louis Wolfson II Family Foundation, Miguel “Mike” Bezos, Pat Mitchell and Suzy Buckley, who joined other philanthropists, social entrepreneurs, sponsors, and investors in supporting the cause. Guests enjoyed music by Miami-based producer and curator, Andrew “no. 22” McCoy.
