Miami, FL – November 14, 2024 – The Residences at 1428 Brickell — a 70-story solar-powered tower — has officially broken ground, set to become the world’s first residential building to generate its own electricity through a “Solar Backbone” integrated into its façade.

The system will produce 175 MWh of clean energy annually, cutting CO2 emissions by 4,700 tons and saving 3,000 barrels of oil each year. At 861 feet tall, this striking addition to the Brickell skyline will be one of Miami’s tallest.

Developed by Ytech and designed by Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel Architects and Arquitectonica, the tower will house 195 luxury units with prices starting at $3 million. With 80,000 square feet of amenities, including penthouses priced up to $60 million, construction is led by John Moriarty & Associates.
