In 2001, Casa Tua Miami Beach was created as a welcoming place for friends, family and guests from around the world, where simplicity would meet sophistication, and individuals with a zest for life would come together.

The Grendenes — Miky, his wife Leticia, and their two children Alessandra and Giovani Grendene — have always loved having their home filled with friends laughing, eating, and sharing quality moments alongside each other. “

Our house was basically a place where people were coming and going, we were cooking and entertaining all the time,” shares Casa Tua Founder Miky Grendene. “When my kids were born, my wife Leti basically said ‘enough of this’ and suggested we create a place outside of our home to entertain and that’s how Casa Tua was born, as an extension of our home to host our friends.”

Over the last 23 years, Casa Tua has cemented its name amongst elite social circles, not just in Miami — where the exclusive membership-based club originated — but throughout the world at large. What began as a hometown staple is now a worldwide brand, boasting a hotel at home and multiple restaurants from Miami to Aspen, New York, and even Paris. Expanding on its footprint at home, Casa Tua Cucina will be opening a new location soon in Wynwood at the NoMad Residences.

The brand has even expanded into residential projects, with development for ORA by Casa Tua well underway, promising the classic luxury and joyful lifestyle the brand is known for. “We are trying to put ourselves in the shoes of our customers again,” Miky shares. “In this case, (we want to know) how people want to live, how they want to be treated, and what type of lifestyle they want to be provided.”

The 77-story tower, designed by Arquitectonica with interiors by m2atelier, will feature 533 fully furnished residences available for short-term rentals and amenities like a rooftop pool, sky park, expansive fitness space, social lounge, club room, and multiple dining options: Gourmet market and bakery TERRA, an enoteca dubbed UVA, and exclusive dining concept FUOCO equipped with a private dining and event space named VENTO. The project is slated for completion in 2028.

When asked about the brand’s success? Miky attributes it all to his family and their individual skills, each coming together to collaborate and continuously evolve harmoniously throughout the years.

WRE: Casa Tua was Miami’s first ever members-only club, long before the trend caught on. What inspired you to open as a members only concept?

Miky Grendene: It was born out of necessity, really. When I first opened Casa Tua, I created this lounge on the second floor, and it was so popular that every night we had a line of people outside. Initially, I didn’t know what criteria to use to let people in, so I said, why not create a membership to help facilitate the process? At the beginning, I think it was $1,000 a year!

Over time, we were able to create a special community of patrons that we could get to know better and personalize their service for a better experience. Our members have become an extension of our family, and it all happened very organically.

WRE: We love that Casa Tua is, and continues to be, a family-run business. Tell us about your family’s involvement and how your traditions have shaped the brand over the years?

MG: I consider myself lucky because family has always been one of my pillars and priorities in life. I’m blessed to have a fantastic family, three beautiful kids, and a wife who has been my companion for 35 years. In this moment, all my kids are working with Leti and me to help shape the next chapter of Casa Tua, which, in my opinion, is going to be even more exciting than the first one. I am very proud of that.

WRE: Looking back, what were some of the challenges you faced in those early days, and how did they shape Casa Tua into what it is today?

MG: When you’re committed to continuous improvement, the challenges never truly stop. There’s a common misconception that things are only tough in the beginning and eventually get easier, but that’s not the case. If you strive to be the best, the challenges keep coming. This is what makes the industry so exciting—the constant opportunity to grow and elevate yourself. While the challenges have been too many to name, it’s the solutions my team and I find that make the difference. I feel very lucky to have a team that is committed to solving the challenges that constantly present themselves in this industry. They have helped us shape Casa Tua into what it is today.

WRE: We see Casa Tua represented at major Miami events like Formula 1 and Art Basel. What motivated you to create such a strong presence in the community through these partnerships?

MG: I’ve been going to Grand Prix events all my life, and through my experience, I saw there was a lot of room for improvement in terms of hospitality. In each partnership we pursue, my goal is to transport people into another world and provide experiences they don’t expect. It all goes back to our vision of redefining hospitality and providing special experiences for our members and guests. Partnering with activations I enjoy personally and have a strong understanding of helps me serve our clients better. I know what these events have been up to now, and I have given considerable thought to what they could be if we think outside the box and dream. Hopefully, we’ve surprised you all, and I believe we’ve improved the approach people will take to major events around the world.

WRE: Casa Tua has been a staple for more than 20 years now. What drew you to Miami, and what was your vision when you started?

MG: The weather for sure, and I had a couple of friends who were living in Miami at the time. I was working in real estate with my childhood friend Ugo Colombo, so I wasn’t even thinking about Casa Tua at that time. My wife, Leticia, and I were always passionate about hosting our friends and entertaining. Our house was basically a place where people were coming and going, we were cooking and entertaining all the time. When my kids were born, Leti basically said enough of this and suggested we create a place outside of our home to entertain, and that’s how Casa Tua was born—as an extension of our home to host our friends.

At the time, there were a lot of trendy places, but we couldn’t find one with a lot of soul, classic style, and a homey feel, so we set out to create one.

WRE: Casa Tua’s expansion is beyond impressive. You’re opening in Aspen, New York, and launching your first residential project. Can you share more about these exciting projects?

MG: I do very few things in reality. In 25 years, there could be many Casa Tua locations around the world, but I chose to spend time with my family, raise my kids, and ensure the brand remained strong and evolved in the right ways over the years. Now, with Casa Tua New York opening as we speak, we are at an inflection point, but I still treat every project the same way. My family and I are poring over every detail to get it right, and we hope that people will enjoy and appreciate it. New York is our biggest Casa Tua yet, with a restaurant and lounge open to the public, as well as a private club. Our family is growing again, and I’m very proud and excited to welcome new members and clients for many years to come.

Ora is our residential project, and it’s a different approach to real estate. We are trying to put ourselves in the shoes of our customers again. In this case, we consider how people want to live, how they want to be treated, and what type of lifestyle they want to be provided. We are building a true vertical community. Allowing for short-term rentals, Ora has three distinct dining destinations, a market concept, a private club, and a forest 500 feet above the streets of Brickell. It’s a building with a strong identity that I hope will become the city’s greatest amenity.
