Miami, FL – October 10, 2024 – One of Miami’s busiest intersections is getting a major upgrade: The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is planning to realign the north leg of South Miami Avenue in front of Brickell City Centre, a hub of pedestrian and vehicle traffic.

The project will add a new crosswalk at South Miami Avenue and SW 7th Street, as well as additional enhancements to improve safety, including new signage, better lighting, and stormwater systems.

In addition to these changes, the intersection at SW 1st Court will be fully signalized, with bulb-outs and a new crosswalk to help control traffic. Construction is set to begin in March 2026, at a projected cost of just over $42,000.
