Miami, FL – September 27, 2024 – The Miami City Commission has agreed to pay $12.5 million to settle a lawsuit involving claims of harassment against Little Havana businesses, aiming to resolve a contentious legal battle.

The lawsuit, filed by the owners of Ball & Chain and Taquerias el Mexicano, accused the city of using code enforcement and city departments to target their businesses in retaliation for supporting a political rival of Commissioner Joe Carollo.

While the city admits no wrongdoing, the settlement will prevent further litigation, with $4 million covered by the city’s insurer.
