Miami, FL – July 9, 2024 – Why sign a check for charity when you could sign away your luxury Miami Beach condo?
Miami philanthropists Jorge and Darlene Perez have donated their One Ocean Avenue condominium to the Miami Foundation, a nonprofit benefiting local community organizations.
The condo was sold for $10 million with all proceeds directed towards arts, culture, and economic development causes. This donation is particularly timely following a significant funding cut for arts organizations by Governor Ron Desantis. Jorge Pérez expressed hope that this donation would inspire others to leverage their resources for community benefit.
This is not the first time the Pérez family has made such a significant contribution; in 2021, they donated $33 million from the sale of their Coconut Grove residence, marking the largest gift in the Miami Foundation’s history.
Over the past decade, the Pérez family has contributed over $135 million to the foundation. The Miami Foundation accepts various untraditional assets, such as real estate, boats, art, and stock, encouraging creative contributions from donors. This latest donation underscores the impactful and innovative ways individuals can give back to their communities during their lifetimes.
