Miami, FL – May 22, 2024 – Miami-Dade County is considering donating $3.2 million worth of surplus land to develop affordable housing.

To address the ongoing housing crisis, county commissioners will vote on a proposal to sell 26 government-owned properties for just $10 each in District 2. The initiative, led by Commissioner Marleine Bastien, aims to incentivize developers to build affordable units quickly, with the land reverting back to the county if not developed within two years.

Part of the Infill Housing Program, the properties are reserved for households earning less than 120% of the area’s median income.
