Miami, FL – April 1, 2024 – Miami Beach’s South of Fifth neighborhood is set to undergo a transformation as the Burger King location makes way for a new office building. The two-story Burger King and an adjacent single-story retail building will be replaced by a five-story structure designed by Pritzker prize-winning architect Eduardo Souta de Moura. The project, led by Sumaida + Khurana in partnership with Weiss Properties, aims to meet the demand for high-quality office spaces in Miami Beach. The new building will span 101,381 square feet, featuring three floors dedicated to offices, parking on one level, and retail and restaurant spaces at the base. Sumaida + Khurana’s decision to invest in this development was driven by the market’s need for architecturally distinctive office buildings that appeal to family offices and hedge funds. With Miami Beach experiencing a surge in wealthy residents and corporate expansions, developers are racing to meet the demand for office spaces close to home. The project is pending review by the city’s Planning Board, with plans to commence demolition and construction next year, aiming for completion by late 2026.
