Miami Beach, FL – January 10, 2024 – Whitman Family Development, creators of the iconic Bal Harbour Shops, is set to revolutionize the 18-acre property with a groundbreaking mixed-use development.

Under Florida’s Live Local Act, the project includes 600 residential units, featuring 40% workforce housing, 60% luxury housing, and a 70-key upscale hotel, all strategically positioned within the heart of Bal Harbour’s commercial district. Bal Harbour Shops, known for its upscale retail offerings, will diversify its footprint by addressing the pressing need for affordable and attainable housing in the region. Leveraging the Live Local Act, Whitman Family Development commits to providing 40% of the residential units as attainable or affordable housing for at least 30 years, ensuring a significant contribution to the community’s housing market. Plans for the multi-phase project have been submitted to the Village of Bal Harbour, with the initial phase focusing on an attainable housing tower. The subsequent phases include luxury residential units and the boutique hotel. The proposed towers, rising approximately 275 feet, align with the Village’s existing skyline and prioritize pedestrian access and street-level activations.
