Miami Beach, FL – January 31, 2024 – This morning’s Miami Beach Commission Meeting discussed safety measures and key initiatives around Spring Break. Commissioner Alex J. Fernandez provided update ahead of the meeting calling for proactive measures to reduce the violence and mayhem of Spring Break on the beach. Planned measures included implementing a midnight alcohol rollback, endorsing a curfew for the area south of 23rd Street, increasing parking rates, providing stricter traffic enforcement, and cracking down on possession of marijuana. “By adopting and communicating these policies, I intend for our city to send a resoundingly clear message: Miami Beach is shutting the door on Spring Break,” adds Commissioner Fernandez. A second Commission meeting to decide on the implementation of the measures is scheduled for February.
