Miami, FL – November 7, 2023 – A construction permit has been granted for a new project at the heart of Miami World Center, with renderings closely resembling an Apple storefront. The permit outlines plans for a 1-story retail building with 16,629 square feet of space adjacent to World Square within the development with an estimated construction cost of $12 million. Although earlier renderings featured an Apple logo on the building, there is a possibility that the plans have evolved. The project’s design prioritizes the pedestrian experience and environmental concerns, with native species for landscaping, the use of FSC certified mass timber and recycled materials, and a green roof — aligning with Miami Worldcenter’s commitment to creating a sustainable and eco-friendly environment. The retail building would seamlessly integrate with a plaza offering 20,000 square feet of dedicated public open space, promoting biodiversity and enhancing air quality. Architecture firm Gensler is currently associated with the project.
