Miami, FL – November 7, 2023 – Scientists, conservation professionals, and educators working on Florida’s Coral Reef gathered at the Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science for the first-annual ReeFLorida Symposium from November 6 – 9. The National Coral Reef Conservancy (ReeFLorida) is an interdisciplinary marine science hub funded by NOAA’s Coral Reef Conservation Program and established by Frost Science to provide unique opportunities for ongoing education and collaborative research, with the goal of conserving, restoring, and enhancing Florida’s Coral Reef. Frost Science President & CEO Dr. Doug Roberts welcomed attendees to the Symposium before a plenary by Sarah Fangman, Superintendent of the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary. Throughout the four-day event participants engaged in talks, presentations, workshops and networking. The ReeFL Symposium was organized by Frost Science with logistical support from the University of Miami Rosenstiel School, Florida Sea Grant, Nova Southeastern University, and Florida DEP.
