Miami, FL – October 27, 2023 – In a unanimous decision, Miami city commissioners passed a resolution yesterday regarding planned enhancements for the Miami Marine Stadium. The slated improvements for the stadium include upgraded parking facilities, a mooring field, and a boat ramp. Donald Worth, co-founder of Restore Miami Marine Stadium, emphasized the goal of making this waterfront gem accessible to a broader community, as it is currently primarily utilized by the affluent. Assistant City Manager Larry Spring provided insight into the nature of the resolution, stating, “The ‘intent to reimburse’ resolution empowers the city to initiate projects, tapping into our savings account, while we finalize the scope of work for the projects to be financed. It allows us to pay ourselves back when we sell bonds for financing.” Commissioners Joe Carollo and Sabina Covo expressed their commitment to stadium renovation, emphasizing its potential for sports and recreation. They also sought clarification on fund allocation and activation speed from the city administration.
