Miami Beach, FL – October 24, 2023 – The Jesta Group, owners of the Clevelander Sobe and Essex House Sobe, has submitted a site plan application to the City of Miami Beach for a new mixed-use development in accordance with Florida’s Live Local Act. After careful consultation and architectural analysis, the project’s proposed height of 18 stories appears to align with existing South Beach structures. According to The Jesta Group, the transformative endeavor would preserve the historic Clevelander and Essex structures, while addressing South Florida’s affordable housing crisis by dedicating over 40% of the 137 planned units to affordable housing rentals. The project aims to fulfill the Mayor and City Commission’s vision of a more balanced neighborhood by replacing the Clevelander’s hotel and nightlife businesses with residential and community-based retail, including an upscale restaurant.
