Miami, FL – October 20, 2023 – Design Miami has a new owner as Basic.Space, a marketplace for new and vintage items, announced its acquisition of the Miami-based collectible design forum. Design Miami/ is known for showcasing museum-quality 20th and 21st-century furniture, lighting, and artistic items from galleries worldwide, with fairs in Miami Beach, Basel, Shanghai, and Paris. The exciting development was unveiled during the inaugural Design Miami/Paris fair. With offices in Los Angeles and New York, Basic.Space intends to revitalize Design Miami/ by introducing collaborations with designers, evolving the fair’s format, and exploring new fair locations. Their goal is to tap into the growing interest of Gen Z and Millennial consumers in collectible design. Craig Robins, co-founder of Design Miami/ and early seed investor in Basic.Space, will join the company’s board. Design Miami/ will continue under the leadership of Jennifer Roberts as CEO, overseeing all fairs. Jesse Lee, CEO and founder of Basic.Space, will serve as the chairman of the Design Miami/ board. The upcoming Design Miami/ fair is scheduled for December 6 to 10.
