Miami Beach, FL – August 8, 2023 – Miami Beach is breaking the mold with an innovative real estate project aimed at addressing the housing crisis faced by first responders, public employees and artists in Miami-Dade County.

The $41.7 million project, known as the Collins Park Artist Workforce Housing Project, has overcome significant hurdles, including rising costs due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The funding mix is a blend of Miami-Dade economic development bonds and the city’s voter-approved bond program for arts and cultural facilities.

A groundbreaking ceremony marked the start of the 80-unit apartment building project at 224 23rd Street, where discounted rents will be offered to essential workers and artists. The development also features a unique collaboration with a local arts group, which has secured an entire floor dedicated to dorm rooms for the Miami City Ballet School.
