Miami, FL – August 2, 2023 – F1 Miami is not expected to transition into a night race for the 2024 season, as stated by the event’s president.
Tyler Epp, President of the Miami GP, mentioned that while other race organizers such as Singapore and Las Vegas have provided valuable insights about hosting night races, any potential shift must have a clear justification. The current plan for the 2024 race, scheduled for May 5, will retain the daytime schedule.
Becoming a night race would require substantial changes, including installing floodlights around the track, a significant departure from the current start time of 3:30 p.m. ET. The logistical challenges posed by time zones and television viewership further complicate the shift.
The recent race took place last May on a temporary circuit encircling the Hard Rock Stadium, resulting in a thrilling victory for Max Verstappen. Epp affirmed that the focus remains on improving the overall experience for attendees.
