WRE News: 645 is the New 305: New Area Code Coming to Miami-Dade in August 2023

Miami, FL – June 18, 2023 – The 305/786 is about to receive a new area code: “645”

Miami-Dade County is preparing for the introduction of a new area code due to the surging population and need for additional telephone numbers. The new area code, 645, is scheduled to be added to the existing 305 and 786 area codes in August of this year.

The change will not impact existing phone numbers; instead, it will affect new telephone lines and services. Beginning August 4th, customers may be assigned a phone number with the 645 area code when requesting new service, an additional line, or in some cases, moving their service.
