Piano Slam Professional Development at the Adrienne Arsht Center

Miami, FL – November 8, 2022 – STEAM middle and high school teachers from Miami-Dade County Public Schools participated in a professional development day on Tuesday, November 8 at the Adrienne Arsht Center, where they learned both writing and music techniques to enhance their poetry curriculum. The educators’ students will be eligible to take part in Dranoff2Piano’s annual Piano Slam in the Spring, where they will create and perform spoken word poems on stage at the Arsht Center and compete for prizes. Joining them was United States Inaugural Poet Richard Blanco, who discussed best practices for writing poetry including music, sound, and rhythm.
