Miami, FL – October 19, 2022 – Last night, Locust Projects and Oolite Arts welcomed independent curator Larry Ossei-Mensah as the speaker for the second TALKS of the season. Larry took us through his non-traditional path to becoming an arts professional, which ultimately led to his now extensive curatorial career. He detailed the early experiences that sparked his love for art; the Bronx’s graffiti scene in the 80s, exploring photography, and the many avenues he explored before entering the curating space. Larry highlighted some of the most impactful opportunities he has had throughout his career, such as curating “Soul of Black Folks” by Amoako Boafo and having a conversation with Tremaine Emory for Philips Auction. The night ended with people connecting with one another and having the opportunity to meet the curator.
