Locust Projects Celebrates Miami Artists Making Waves at Annual Splash! Party at Soho House Miami

Miami Beach, FL – August 30, 2022 – Locust Projects‘ Splash! Party at Soho Beach House celebrated 12 Miami artists and collectives who received WaveMaker incubator grants for publicly accessible, community-driven projects across Miami, supported by The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts’ Regional Regranting Program.

Guests were welcomed to the poolside tropical Beach Bar with delicious, spicy and sweet cocktails artistically crafted by Soho Beach House’s talented bartenders using CHAWAR, a raw agave spirit from the mountains of Ecuador, sponsored by Andean Agave and past WaveMaker grantee, Evan Marcus. A curated Splash! playlist by Miami’s own celebrity DJ Kumi set the convivial mood. Among the more than seventy guests were many Miami artists, collectors, curators, and members of Locust Projects Board of Trustees including, Chair Debra Scholl, Vice Chair Munisha Underhill, Karen Boyer, Brian Heller, and Raúl Guijjaro de Pablo. WaveMaker grantees and the first fifty lucky guests received the coveted 2022 limited edition WaveMaker SPLASH! towel designed by artist and WaveMaker grantees LIZN”BOW.

Since 2015—thanks to the support of the Warhol Foundation—WaveMaker has awarded $510,000 in incubator grants to 102 of Miami’s visionary artists. In the spirit of Locust Projects’ artist-driven mission, WaveMakers experiment and take risks, creating innovative work that is shared with the public in unconventional spaces.
