Miami Beach, FL – May 4, 2022 – On May 4, 2022 the Miami Beach Bar Association (“MBBA”) held its annual Law Day Celebration recognizing the student winners of its Law Day contest and their teachers. The 2022 Law Day theme was “Toward a More Perfect Union: The Constitution in Times of Change.” Commemorated annually on May 1 (this year May 3), Law Day is an opportunity for the MBBA to host discussions about law and its role in society with students in the City of Miami Beach. Resources are made available for schools by the MBBA with guest speakers, programs, lessons, and activities for students in addition to the essay and poster contest.
Over 100 people attended the celebratory feast at Santorini by Georgios with key note speaker Commissioner of Agriculture Nikki Fried. Notable guests included Representative Michael Grieco, Judge Mark Blumstein, Judge Miesha Darrough, Judge Spencer Eig, School Board Member Lucia Baez Geller, Miami Beach Commissioners David Richardson and Kristen Rosen Gonzalez, Chief Deputy City Attorney Robert Rosenwald, Jr., Judge Fred Seraphin, Judge Stephanie Silver, Judge Robert Watson, Judge Lody Jean and Judge Scott Janowitz. MBBA President Aaron Resnick and Law Day Chairperson Jodie Breece presented certificates and awards to the Law Day winners (from the over 400 student contestants). Former City Commissioner Michael Gongora served as the Master of Ceremonies with special remarks from attorney Judd Rosen. City of Miami Beah Commissioner Rosen Gonzalez presented the winning students with certificates of recognition from the City of Miami Beach, and Commissioners Rosen Gonzalez and Richardson surprised Commissioner Fried with a proclamation announcing “Nikki Fried Day”.
