Miami, FL – April 2, 2022 – Epilepsy Alliance Florida (formally Epilepsy Florida) hosted its annual Miami Walk the Talk for Epilepsy, on Saturday, April 2, 2022, the largest community event in the area, with close to 500 supporters in attendance. Raising more than $174, 000 in support of its mission dedicated to those impacted by epilepsy, their families and caregivers. The walk was held at MAPS Backlot, in Miami’s Wynwood Arts District and presented by Nicklaus Children’s Hospital’s Brain Institute. This year’s event marked the organization’s 50-year anniversary in celebration had a Gala Walk, and officially announcing its name change to Epilepsy Alliance Florida formally known as Epilepsy Florida.
The Miami Walk the Talk for Epilepsy, featured family-friendly entertainment, including: a Kids Corner sponsored by The Children’s Trust; a live DJ; face painting; public art stations; and more. There are over 500,000 individuals with epilepsy in Florida, making it the state with the most instances in our country. Epilepsy is the fourth most common neurological disorder after migraines, strokes, and Alzheimer’s disease also, the most misunderstood and underfunded.
