Miami Beach, FL – February 18, 2022 – On February 18th, 2022, Clean Miami Beach hosted a beach cleanup for Amazon. Amazon is celebrating the launch of its new hub in Opa Locka. Community involvement by protecting the environment is a priority for the team. With the help of 25 employees (management level), 260 pounds of litter and ocean debris were removed from Miami Beach within 3 blocks at 10th St in one hour. Most found items were single-use plastic straws and plastic bottles. Despite the ban on plastic straws in the City of Miami Beach, a total of 183 plastic straws were picked up. “I’m grateful for the commitment of large corporations such as Amazon to raise awareness about plastic pollution and the involvement in beach cleanups.”, Sophie Ringel, Executive Director Clean Miami Beach
